EU Exit

The EU Exit: ID Document Check app lets you confirm your identity online, as part of your application to stay in the UK after it leaves the EU.

By using this app, you will not need to send us your identity document by post.

Who can use the app

You must be resident in the UK and either:

• be a European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss national

• have an EEA or Swiss national family member, if you are not a national of a country in the EEA or Switzerland

If you are not an EEA or Swiss national, you must have a UK issued biometric residence card to use this app. If you do not have one, you will need to apply by post instead.

Before you start

You will need:

• your passport or national identity card, if you are an EEA or Swiss national

• your UK issued biometric residence card, if you are not an EEA or Swiss national and have an EEA or Swiss national family member

• a well-lit area, so that you can take a good quality photograph of yourself

If you use a national identity card without a biometric chip, you can still use this app but will need to send us the card by post.

How it works

You will:

1. take an image of your document

2. read the chip in your document using your phone

3. scan your face using your phone

4. take a photograph of yourself for your digital status

What happens next

The app only helps confirm your identity. You must complete the rest of your application online separately. We'll tell you how to complete your application when you finish using the app.

Privacy and security

The app is safe and secure. Your personal information will not be stored in the app, or on the phone when you finish using it.

La aplicación EU Exit: ID Document Check le permite confirmar su identidad en línea, como parte de su solicitud para permanecer en el Reino Unido después de que abandone la UE.

Al usar esta aplicación, no necesitará enviarnos su documento de identidad por correo.

¿Quién puede usar la aplicación?

Debe ser residente en el Reino Unido y:

• ser un Espacio Económico Europeo (EEE) o nacional suizo

• tener un miembro de la familia del EEE o nacional suizo, si no es ciudadano de un país del EEE o Suiza

Si no es ciudadano del EEE o suizo, debe tener una tarjeta de residencia biométrica emitida en el Reino Unido para usar esta aplicación. Si no tiene uno, deberá solicitarlo por correo.

Antes de que empieces

Necesitará:

• su pasaporte o documento nacional de identidad, si es un EEE o un ciudadano suizo

• su tarjeta de residencia biométrica emitida en el Reino Unido, si usted no es un EEE o nacional suizo y tiene un familiar del EEE o nacional suizo

• un área bien iluminada, para que pueda tomar una fotografía de buena calidad de usted mismo

Si usa una tarjeta de identidad nacional sin un chip biométrico, aún puede usar esta aplicación, pero deberá enviarnos la tarjeta por correo.

Cómo funciona

Vas a:

1. toma una imagen de tu documento

2. lea el chip en su documento usando su teléfono

3. escanea tu cara usando tu teléfono

4. toma una fotografía de ti mismo para tu estado digital

Que pasa despues

La aplicación solo ayuda a confirmar tu identidad. Debe completar el resto de su solicitud en línea por separado. Le diremos cómo completar su solicitud cuando termine de usarla.

Privacidad y seguridad

La aplicación es segura y protegida. Su información personal no se almacenará en la aplicación o en el teléfono cuando termine de usarla.
